Hello, I'm not sure if it's o.k. to post this here or not. I looked for a contact person to ask and could not find anyone. If this is inappropriate please delete and pardon my intrusion
My name is Anita and I'm the Coordinator of Family Trauma Survivors' Network, an organization that was created by Trauma Survivors and continues to be operated solely by Trauma Survivors. We seek to help people start peer support groups for Survivors in their area by offering them kits to do that, and I travel, as my finances permit, and help educate people about the needs of Trauma Survivors, and we advocate on behalf of Trauma Survivors as well.
Recently I was requested by Kaiser Permanente Medical Care to write an article about the needs of Trauma Survivors for possible inclusion in their medical publication. Kaiser Permanente has long been interested in the effects of child abuse and in fact they've studied how abuse affects our health as adults and one of their doctors, Dr. Vincent Felitti, travels the country and tries to educate people about how adults who were abused as children are affected as adults.
With the help of other members of Family Trauma Survivors' Network we've put together a survey to help get feedback about things you'd like a doctor to know in order to give better care to Trauma Survivors. This Medical Experiences Survey has been posted on a new website that will tell you about our organization as well. We are asking everyone who is a Trauma Survivor to take the Survey and to forward it to as many other people as quickly as possible.

The Survey is short ~ just 15 questions ~ most questions are check off types but there are some spaces for you to give your feedback as well. We know that some people are so traumatized by anything medical that they would not be able to take this Survey. But that's information that we greatly need to know. That's why one of the first questions asks, "Have your previous experiences with licensed medical providers been too traumatizing to complete this survey?" If so you can click "yes" and exit the survey. That will still give us information about what Trauma Survivors have to endure when they go to visit a doctor.
My goal, as an advocate for Trauma Survivors, is to let the medical field know that people are coming to them with these issues. My hope is that we can get enough people to take this survey to let them see that Trauma Survivors are coming to them in large numbers ~ that we are not just a rare occurrence. So if you can forward this information on to others I'd greatly appreciate it. I also hope to let them see that their procedures have a large effect on us. And ultimately my hope is that it will result in better treatment for Trauma Survivors. Because the results of this Survey are so important to Trauma Survivors we will post them on our website at the end of the month when it closes.
Thank you very much for helping with this. I've also e-mailed our webmaster to put a link to your site in our Resources section.
